We were thinking of a lot of people to do for NHD for example our top three choices were Abraham Lincoln, Cesar Chavez, and Charles Darwin but we wanted to do someone who everyone knew and was famous for his Leadership skills. We chose Abraham Lincoln. We chose Abe because we were fascinated and intrigued about his personality, his actions throughout the Civil War, and all his leadership traits that had made him a great leader. When I got interested in Abraham Lincoln I was reading Abraham Lincoln The Vampire Slayer it was really good book and the book started to mention that he was a good leader, then it hit me why not do Abraham Lincoln for my NHD project. After I finished the book I told my group that we should do Abraham Lincoln for our NHD project.
When we decided we were going to do the project on Abraham Lincoln we immediately started to work on our website. My group conducted our research online on various websites and we conducted our research on books also on his famous speeches. We also looked at various textbooks and Articles which we located in the Santa Clara Public Library. Our group studied documents and Pictures of Abraham Lincoln, and we usually met at the library on Fridays and Saturdays to discuss how we were going to put the website together.
We decided to do a website because we enjoy doing our project online. It was also more easy for us to communicate through video chat and Skype. We also picked a website because we have never tried it before and the rest of the categories were too plain. The website was not simple it was quite difficult, but we managed to do it. The most difficult thing in the website was inserting the pictures and putting the slide show on the website. Overall it was fun doing a website.
Our topic relates to this years theme ”Impact and Legacy” because Abraham Lincoln’s impact was he made all of the presidents of the United States commander and chief of the military. Abraham Lincoln also let all of the southern slaves free. He also dedicated a battlefield for the soldiers. The soldiers turned it into a cemetery called the Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Impact when Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves from the South was happy and grateful but other people were mad. That’s why we think that Abraham Lincoln fits in to Impact and Legacy.
